No rear brake query. Help please.

Ok,I'm at my wits end…I'll begging the head banging description.

I've completely rebuilt my mk1. Including..

new mk2 16v master cylinder and servo (thread shortened).
new brake lines, refurbished g60 calipers and disks 280mm front.
mk1 standard drums on the back brand new,inc handbrake cable.
plumbed n correctly with t-piece for brake light switch.
Everything brand new.
I've bled the system many times. However the rear brakes are more or less non existent. Bleed nipple right way up etc.

i used the wife pump the pedal method and easy bleed method however. Stamp on the brakes and there's nothing there. The adjuster on the rear drum is at max after trying every setting. It seems (when I crack the rear bleed nipple open) no fluid drips from the bleed nipple if I open it,it takes a few second to drip.

air still in it?
do mk1 golf have a inline residual brake pressure valve? Mine came with brakes lines sooo rotten I couldn't tell. I removed the compensator and tried it all again but nothing.

Helpppppp please.

Don't know about all mk1,s but gti,s have the rear compensator and one way ball valves in the rear lines. They are little hexagonal connectors under the master cylinder at the bottom of the engine bay.  I think the best thing is to narrow the problem down, ie  block of the rear lines and see if you then have a pedal  or vise versa.

Ahhh thanks for that. I haven't put the residual brake pressure valves in the new rear brake lines (figured that out in my head watching the Simpsons) so there's little or no brake pressure to the rear. I went to a scrappy today and removed 2 inline brake compensator valves from a ford KA with rear drums,so there is the compensator sorted me thinks. I'll bleed it and post the results (for anyone with the same prob).

im also going to buy a wilwood 10lbs residual brake pressure valve in the morn.

Out of the whole complete resto the easiest bit has turned out to be the most frustrating.

Still struggling. I fitted 2 residual 10lbs pressure valves on the master cylinder too but still not the best. Loooadsmof travel and useless rears.
