Newby Brake probs

Hi There everyone,
I'm new to the mk1 and the club .
My 82 GLI Cabriolet has just passed it's test but the brake pedal travel and the brakes are awful. The hand brake is more efficient on it's own.
I've stripped released and re-adjusted the rears I wonder if anyone has any Ideas what to do next?(I live in Barnsley South Yorks)

welcome - you're in the 'breaking' section rather than the 'braking' section though  

How long have you had the car?  mk1 brakes leave alot to be desired over modern day tin tops but should still stop the car in a hurry when required.

Any ideas when the brake fluid was last changed? that'd be the first thing i'd go for  :wink:

I've changed the fluid and the load sensing valve ,they work but the pedal is nearly on the floor.
