N/S Driveshaft too long??

Hi folks, I am currently putting my mk1 back together after doing 16v conversion, I'm having problems getting the passenger driveshaft back in. The drivers side has gone in perfect and has movement in the shaft to allow for suspension travel but to even get all the bolts back in on the passenger one all movement has been taken up and the shaft is tight?? I am using the 020 gearbox that was on the original 1600 engine and 90mm flanges. Has anyone else had a problem like this?

loosen up all the engine mounts and see if you can pull it over a bit? are the shafts and cvs definitly the right ones for a mk1 tintop 1.5-1.8?

Thanks for the reply buddy, got it sorted now though. Used a Gti shaft which when I measured it was just over 30mm shorter, coupled with 90mm joints - the outer one was almost 15mm shorter so overall I gained almost 2 inches. Driveshaft went back in with no problems.
