mk1 shifter

hey, whilst flicking through old air cooled parts catalogue saw a empi hurst style shifter for a beetle/buggy which i think are pretty cool,now owneing a mk1 golf not beetle what work is involved in fitting this shifter?please help and advise

wont work as the shifter is completely different.  Some very early mk1's had a similar mechanism, but from (I think,) about '78 onward it is impossible i'm afraid!
