mk1 1.6Diesel gearbox.. will this replacement fit?

hey guys the gearbox just went pop in my 92' mk1 caddy 1.6 diesel.

my gearbox is a AVX code and iv been offered an 'FF' coded box to suit.

will it fit? the FF is from a 1.9D

I know the DFW coded box found in the 1.9D seat and polo should fit,it has 90mm flanges, so the shafts bolt straight on. Not sure about FF though. Bert is the person to ask, I'm sure he wouldn't mind you sending a PM if you need advice.  :wink:

It will fit but the ratios 1-4 will be approx 10% higher, and 5th gear will be 15% higher. Also you'll need to adapt the reverse switch somehow, since these differ.
