Metal brake pipes (and other stuff)

Ok, so most of the metal brake pipes on my golf are knackered, and in my usual "I'll have a go at that" frame of mind, I've brought some replacement pipe, unions and a pipe flaring tool, the only problem is can I get the flare to form correctly at the end of the pipe  :banghead:  I must have used about 2 metres of pipe just trying, and have now broken the tool i brought    (well it was cheap, so I suppose u get what you pay for)

So does anyone know of either a decent pipe flaring tool I can buy that might actually work and doesn't cost the earth, or anywhere that will either a) make the pipes up for me or b) sell me a set of ready made pipes for my car. The car is a 1983 cabriolet GTi.

I'm also after a new master cylinder, but I've heard that this can be uprated to improve the brakes slightly. Does anyone have any more specific information like what part number i might need??

Thanks for you help in advance!!

Mike.

Hi
Automec do full kits for the Golf try http://www.automec.co.uk/frame_set.html

Sykes pickavant do the best flaring tool but its ?50.00 the cheap ones are poor to say the least . As for the master cylinder i have just purchased a new OE Mk1 cylinder from GSF standard but the improvements are amazing , I suppose when you think that the old one had been on for 25 years its not surprizing . A worth while mod is to buy a set of Goodrich hoses and replace all the flexy's while your at it  . Good luck….
