light steering

Hi all, I am at a head scratching stage and in need of ideas. I have recently completed an abf conversion in a mk1 golf cabriolet which has developed a problem where the steering has become very light,, there is a slight camber so at first thought it could be that, but it has become very noticable on sharp turns now and the steering wheel drifts off centre in straight line. I have replaced the rack bushes today thinking the rack could be moving through the old ones (which were a tad past their best), but the problem is still present.

Is this a sign of a worn rack? There is no knocking.

Any advice appriciated.

Cheers

I know you have prob checked this but worth the ask, tyre pressure too high and uneven? Had a similar prob on mine and over pressure and also tracking / alignment . ATS charge £9.99 to put the car on their all singing and dancing laser wheel alignment thing, bit pricey on correcting it mind.
