Intermittent clattering gearbox???

Hi,

I recently had a horrible clattering noise from my gearbox which I was informed by my garage that was a failed clutch release bearing. Anyway I had the clutch and release bearing changed and all was well.

However this weekend after no more than 100 miles the noise is back but it is intermittent, only really appearing once the car is warm and has been pushed a bit.

If anyone could shine any light on what this could be it would be appreciated. My gear linkages are worn but not too bad.

Its a standard 1983 Mk1 Gti 1.8 8v gearbox
