Inner cv joint
whilest replacing my gearbox, my inner cv joints fell apart.
I've put them back together but they don't appear to move around properly, what have I done wrong?

Did they definitely have the circlip holding them onto the driveshaft?

As long as you have put the cage in the correct way round and all balls in place it should be fine. the inner joints are quite stiff usually. The balls and cages are not matched to the grooves. But uneven wear may cause a little binding or stiffness.

GONE!!
You should be able to reconnect the drive shaft without undoing the hub. But yes dropping the wishbone would help if needed. i find undoing the strut bolts easier as long as you put the adjuster back in at the same place. a spray of paint over the nuts before removal allows you to see them back in the same.
To undo the hub nut I use a 32 mm socket and stand on my torque wrench - usually does the trick. If you've got the wheels off get someone to apply the brake or use some mole grips to grab the disknext to the caliper - put the wheel bolts in in either case so you don't shear off the disk screw.

I ended up buying new inner CV joints, the old ones wouldn't move around at all. I must have damaged them when taking the box out/getting cr4p in them etc.
Managed to shift the hub nut in the end. After myself and the wife jumping up and down on a wheel brace bar to no avail (it could have looked a bit rude) a neighbour came to the aid with a large breaker bar with an even larger metal pole over it. Wifey had to stamp on brake pedal to stop wheel spinning (even though car was on the ground) whilest said neighbour and I hung off the metal bar.
Cheers for all the help/advice guys.
