In gear speeds....

Anybody care to post their in gear speeds from a std 1.8 ??

Particularly interested in indicated top speed and rpm at 70mph

1983 1800cc GTI with standard running gear [13" wheels etc] at 70 mph engine doing 3500 rpm at 80 mph doing 4000 rpm . Infact the engine RPM is exactly matched to the indicated mph if you double it . In comparsion my modern run about at 80 mph is turing over at 3100 rpm  8O

Thanks Chudd - the same mph/rpm as my old Mk2 used to run 8v (K-Jet) on 14" s.....if only everything in life etc etc....
