Ho can I get softer suspension ?
I have a Mk1 golf GTi it is on standard suspension, I would like the suspension to be 'softer' but not reduce the handelling too much. A while ago I had a MK3 tdi its suspension was soft at the first part of its travell and then would stiffen up. Would it be possible to take the springs from a MK3 and put them on the MK1, would this be a solution, or are ther any other options?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply, I dont know much about springs and dampers, but from experience the suspension on the 1.3 Golf was very spongy. The weight of the renault Clio is similar to the Mk1 Golf, would it be worth considering taking the springs from something of that type?

if you say its too harsh, how exactly as the gtis not that stiffly sprung… look at the suspesnion mounts make sure they arent shagged, ie the lower arm bushes, the top mounts, ball joints.
if you want a silky smooth ride and all is well may I suggest a citroen C4, or some other old citroen
or ill take you out in my track car with race seats then you wills ee harsh
