Hi! I'm new and I have a stupid question...

Hi,

I've just bought a 1982 CL 1.6d MK1 Golf and I am going to fit KW coilovers and new wheels, but I am in a world of confusion when it comes to wheel sizes and offsets.

Would someone be kind enough to tell me if the following wheels will fit without making any wheel arch adjustments?

1)   Lenso BSX, 7x15, ET20, 4x100

2)   Lenso BSX, 7x15, ET38, 4x100

Or even any other wheel suggestions??

Thanks in advance,
Jim

the et refers to the offset… the bigger the number the further the offset from the center line of teh wheel to the face that mounts to the hub.

I would think that both will fit, as the std ET is 38 ….but then I don't know Mk1s.. maybe someone else shold answer!

sorry,

hope that helps alittle

Cool, cheers Jay.

So am i right in saying that ET35 wheels might need my wheel arches to be rolled if I am going to drop significantly, where as ET20's may not?

yeah i used to run et-7 and had bare poke hehe

gott love poke ;)

both of them would fit fine i should imagine. tbh i think the et20 would fill the arches nicer. but thats just my opinion. i hate tuck.

et 20 i reckon might need spacers, i had et 25 rotas on my old one and they fit until i rolled back and the whole car stopped dead! i used 10mm spacers on the rear to clear it. et 38 are the puppies to have

my superlites were -7 et and i only needed 5mm spacers and they were fine. cudda just grinded a bit off excess off the caliper and got away with it too tbh.

but as i say i love poke hahaha

Don't understand that one? Wonder what mine were hitting then? How wide were they if you say you had loads of poke yet they were et 7? Hang on I thought the less the number the less they hung out so a 38 is further toward the arch than the 20?

et 20 will stick out more than et 38. the lower the no the more they stick out.

thats them in my sig pal. i pulled the plastic arches lower too though to widen the car a little.

gotcha, man i got well confused by that, my old wheels must have been about et 10 before i put the rotas on then. love the poke on them minilites, i have got loads of tuck on my cabby, but i plan to buy a tintop next year and have an obscene amount of poke and do a rat look matt brown car.
your plastic arches look great being pulled down like that
