Help with gear linkage

hi
i sat in the rain all day today changing the gear linkage with the guide, anyway thought i was all going well untill the end when i tried to get it into gear i could only get it into 1st and 2nd i think anyway if anyone could give me some advice that would be good as i cant drive until i fix it  :?

unfortunately mate it really is just a case of trial and error,

 get a mate to sit in the car and try the gears while you adjust makes it a helll of a lot easier

I'm hoping you also replaced the base plate under the actual shifter stick as well as all the uasual parts?!!!! You'll nevere get it right otherwise!

hmmm no didnt replace that. what exactly am i adjusting? sorry im not very mechanically minded

I done this before re-reading it.  Did you measure the 15mm (i think it is) between the bottom of the gear lever (under the car) and the metal plate?  You measure this and then put the spline bit back in at the front of the rod (goes from bottom of the gear stick forward to the bulk head?
