Not sure what you mean but I've fitted braided flexi pipes from goodridge (get them on e-bay) and they work fine  :dontknow:

Yo Gav….for a minute there I thought you were Sh*tting us!!!!

HOWEVER.. a check on the olde ETKA shows that Girling Brakes did indeed have a LH Thread as distinct from ATE brakes which have the normal RH Thread…..a further indeed is that I have a front brake caliper off my GTI (which had been lurking on my daughters olde Mk2 Golf for 12 months - on Loan!!!).  That is RH Thread.

The VW part number for the hose with the LH Thread is 171 611 701 K (as distinct from the RH Thread version which has the same number except for L on the end instead of K).

Now then where to get one….

I usually get such stuff from AVS car parts ::

http://www.vwspares.co.uk/g1brakes.php

They recognise the existence of a LH Thread hose on their site but show no price, AVS Part Number or Manufacturer against it…..I would suggest that you maybe give them a bell (Tel. no. on above site)

Or mabe speak to Rich at Crazyquiff ::::

http://www.golfmk1.co.uk/

who has a connection with Volkswarenhaus in good olde Deutchsland who may be able to help.

Apart from that you may try Yellow pages for a Hydraulics Factor who may be able to have a pair made up for you

As a last resort, Maybe you can change your caliper mounts and fit ATE calipers (you didn't say what sort of Mk1 Golf you have or year)

Good luck with your search - let us know how you get on.

Hey Gav - another possibility is to go US.  When I worked in the US I had a 1500 Rabbit (or two) which had the square pads…on checking my "Poor Richard's Rabbit Book" W/S Manual, it too lists the Girling Calipers as having a LH Thread (Caliper end only!).

You may thus try "asking a question" of this E-Bay Seller to see if he can source a pair for you if you have no luck elsewhere…
