Hard Suspension

Hi all,

Im not that technical so I have a silly question.

The supension of my 88 1.8 gti carbrio seems very hard. I have checked the tyre pressure and its fine on a good road but if i hit a pothole or bad ramp it feels like the whole car gets an extremely hard belt.

It makes the car horrible to drive in towns and cities.

Is this a feature of them or is it possible that my front shocks are gone hard? can that happen??

Is it standard suspension or uprated or coilovers ?

I am having new standard spring, dampers and top mounts fitted on wednesday
