Getting car lowered tomorrow - (existing Coilovers)

Hi All,

Photo and Video Storage | Photobucket

I'm after some advice - I've checked and my gti is on coil overs (not sure which make), please see link for pics.

I am going in to the garage tomorrow morning to hopefully get her lowered as much as i can get away with on the current tyres and ats cups.

Questions are…

1. How far do you think i can go on the current setup?
2. Do you think i'll need to change tyres to get a decent look?
3. can i trim back the front spoiler  simply with a jigsaw or does it have anything running through it?
4. I'd like to go really low……. think it will suit her?

THANKS A LOT!! cheers for your help!!! can't wait for show season….

dont trim the spoiler, sell it on ebay  and get a fibre glass one from rangerbob on retro rides.. it's a one piece and halfway between the cl and gti spoiler. i have one and fits wonderfully.

Hi Im sorry but i think the car looks really well as it sits now, why do you want to go lowering it. I know its your car and your choice. Good luck with whatever you decide.

i reckon 10mm on the back and another 20mm on the front the front defo looks higher

get it sitting with the same gap on all four arches

^^^ I agree. Any more than that and I think you will get rubbing issues on the front without arch work or stretched tyres

done.

Thanks guys, i went for the 20mm at the front and 10mm at the back as advised and really happy with the stance now.

i will probably lower again when i change the tyres over in a few 1000miles.

i think it looks loads better. let me know what you think?

I wouldn't go any lower unless you don't mind the ride being harsh and bouncy. My car is lower than yours on coilovers and it has 165 tyres on a 7j rim (think yours are 7j also) and the car is absolutely crap to drive! So i've ordered new softer springs & new tyres. Hopefully running these new parts and raising it up will make it a joy to drive.
