gearbox whine ?

hi wonder if anyone can help me when i drive my cabby at about 2000 revs i get a whining sound from the gearbox well at least i think thats where its coming from ! its a sort of high pitched whirring sound it doesnt happen when the car is stationary  its a 1990 cabriolet any help appreciated   jeff :dontknow:

does it do it all the time under accelleration on decelleration

no just on acceleration

if it is driving fine and only has a whine on it if it is the gear box it may just be a bearing inside the down side is if it is anything in the gear box they are not cheap, before you go down that route though jsut give your wheels bearings a check first you never you may get lucky if not them just work back along until you come to you inner cv on the box if all is ok then you may have to get the gearbox checked
