gearbox thump

Hello folks from the wet emerald isle. I have a thumpimg sound when I let out the clutch feels like an engine mount but a mate tells me he thinks it is the crown wheel assembly and it would be best to swap the gearbox. Do you agree? Oh I have an 1980 1.8 golf cab

I would keep going till it fails you will then no what it was ! Boxes can fail .

Ah the old dont fix it unless its broken remedy. Cheers for the advice its not the worst problem just sound bad when you accelerate quickly.
