gearbox removal help

hi all, im changing my 1.8 8 valve gti box fo a mk2 valver box as i already have a valver engine in, is there any lnks or how to guide to give me some pointers?

hi all, well im changing my gearbox out of my mk1 golf, currently i have a 1.8 16vlave engine but the original mk1 gti gearbox, i have sourced a full mk2 valver so the gearbox is coming out of that into mine,

never took a gearbox out before, ive been told it goes straight on being the same engne but the gear selector is different, clutch s brand new on the mk2 so thats going on mine, drive shafts just change over with the flanges changed?

anythng else i need to no before i commece next week?!

clutch aligning tool? halfords one do the job?

need to remove all the linkage bracket/mount bits from mk2 box and bolt the mk1 items on in their place. you also need to change the clutch friction disc as the 16v input shaft is bigger.  last but not least the driveshaft cups are bigger on the 16v box so these need swappin over too.  need to check the old box, if its the later type with the green shaft cup seal holders they'll fit, otherwise they wont.
