Gearbox problems?

Hi people,
Dont know if any of you can help me!!!!
Started my golf up today to move it out of garage to fit new headlamps. Having recently just fitted a rebuild engine.
As the car is not mot at mo havent been using it. Just been starting it now and then.
Well today it started fine pulled out the garage, difficult to get into first, but has been like that since engine swap. ( Need to finish adjusting gear linkage )
Drove down the road all fine. As i turned car around in big car park suddenly could not get any gears? Managed to find fourth , with alot of revs got home : )
This car is 1.9 rebore from gti engineering. Lsd, big valve head ect. !165bhp. New uprated fast road clutch. All has been working fine.
after this happened i a :banghead: djusted all gear linkage as per haynes manual.
Neutral is very tight no movement from side to side, gear stick will move forward and backwards ok.
The selector shaft on the gearbox seem to be jammed, it wont move in and out?

Any ideas would be greatly recieved.
Regards
Matt

Hi there, thanks for the reply.
I have checked everything you said and everything is in order.
Do you have any other ideas?

Somebody has told me that inside the gearbox maybe on the selector shaft there is a piece that is fixed with glue??? !!!! if so is it possible this could of broken off?

Cheers

hi fella
sounds like selector in the box has come loose or seized. That is if clutch is correct and fitted right. If you've invested in an engine upgrade might be worth lookin at a box too!
