Gearbox Oil - What do I need?

Guys,  looking to change the gear box oil today on my Mk1 Cab 1.8 Carb, 1990 5 speed manual.

What oil do I need to buy for it?

Any help will be appreciated.

Have you seen the guide in the How To section?
I was going to go by that but make sure x28875 that when I drain the oil Im going to be able to re-fill it.

Use Redline MTL. The best you can do for your old VW gearbox  :D

Is Gearbox oil graded like engine oil?  I.e. 10/40W etc?  Thats kind of the information I'm looking for or is it pure one size fits all going on brand?

Did mine this afternoon, seemed to put almost double what came out back in (2L)
Seems to have got rid of the "crunch" between 1st and 2nd, We'll see how it goes tho.

Redline MTL is 70W80 GL-4, and is the perfect cure for the 2nd gear crunch.

Spot on, thanks mate.  Done it over the weekend, the old stuff was stinking, smelt like my Cab had a bad pint but easy peasy to do.

Thanks everyone! :D
