Gearbox help needed!!
hello all,so up until last week my gearbox was running sweet all the time,no problems but it all changed after my first long journey in the old girl….
-when cold the gears are all fine and easy to get in
-when hot, after around 10 or so miles, its so hard to get in to gear, notably 1st and 2nd (reverse grinds so much i have to turn car off) but 3rd and 4th can be hard too and sometimes any gear can be fine.
so,i am planning to change the gearbox oil at the weekend as iv been told that old oil when hot can go thin and sit at bottom of gearbox (?!), the car had been sat for 6 years and may never of had this done before.
could it be the syncro/clutch/gearbox!? i hope its just oil
thanks loads,in advance,as i need this sorted asap!!

Sounds more like the clutch than the gearbox. Possibly, a new clutch cable???

I'm assuming you've already tried adjusting the clutch cable, its a 5 minute job, can almost be done without tools and is as simple as it gets.

pull the cable up by hand so the clutch arm is fully tensioned then screw the locking mechanism so that it shortens the cable and keeps the clutch arm tensioned. Then its done.
