GEARBOX/DRIVESHAFT PROBLEM

AFTER FITTING A SECONDHAND GEARBOX OUT OF A Y REG VW SCIROCCO INTO MY GOLF GTI CABRIOLET ON A C REG NOTICED THE DRIVESHAFTS AND GEARBOX DON'T BOLT TOGETHER.  ANY IDEAS HOW TO GET ROUND THIS PROBLEM?  CAN I CHANGE THE DIVESHAFT FLANGES OUT OF THE OLD GEARBOX?

The flanges are interchangable (mostly, some boxes won't take 100mm flanges but only a few), the flanges are held in by a c clip and the flanges have a big spring on the back to keep the pressure against the clip.  Can be a pain to change, if the box is out try using a big sash clamp to press the flanges in toward one another.  Also ideally need some proper c clip pliers to get the clips out, can be done with circlip pliers and small screwdrivers but usually involes much cursing!

Yeah can be a ball ache with the box in the car but can be done with patience!
