gearbox adjustment

hi all, well im going to have a go at changing the bushes on my gti gearbox following the guide on here, ive found that when changing gear i have to move the stick quiet some distance to change up or down, i drove a mk2 gti today and the gear change is very close together! is the correct for a mk1? i have a 16 valve engine in and a standard mk1 gti gearbox

do i need a shorter rod somewhere?

ok for the bush kit from gsf they are ?15, from vw ?10!?

anyne got a part number as this cant be rite surely

VW kit may not include all bits just the shift rod bushes. so ask first.

I dont know what the gsf kit contains but have a look at item number 220440982769 on ebay, it's got all you need.  Did the one on my cab a few weeks ago, changed the whole lot and it went from stirring the porride to tight as a……
