gear stick/linkage help please

how do i get the ball and socket thing off the bottom of the gear stick ,i've taken the circlip off but its too small to slide up it

Did mine a while back now but from memory, all you need do is remove circlip, then unbolt shift rod from bottom of gear stick and unbolt ball/socket join - then slide up stick?

This not work?

the stick is sort of plastic coated when you remove circlip thought it would just slide up and off,but its too tight to come up over the black coating      
               gonna take it off rom underneath and get it on the bench,if you remember anything let me know…cheers Hairyarse

The plastic coatng should just slide off - it's not bonded to the stick shaft

Yep Rich is right - I completely forgot about that bit!! Its just a black tube that will pull off!
