gear linkage repair kit and 1st gear

im having loads of problems with my dub atm.
one is the gear linkage.
the otherday the large bush fell out/crumbled away from the gear lever shaft.(the big red one in the repair kit)
the car still changed gear with out this untill yesterday when it stopped going in to first. all the other gears are fine 2nd is a struggle but it always gets there.
i have just bought the linkage repair kit from GSF and the linkage is feeling better but still no first gear
any tips or soultions will be greatly appreciated ASAP as my cars in bits

you probably need to adjust the shift selector rod that runs from teh gearlever to the series of linkages.

check this site out for more details, the gap for a 5 speeder should be 15mm…

yup that kinda helped but each turn of the spline makes it either too close or way 2 far away.
im setling at too far away after a whole morning under my mk1.
i can get to all the gears but reeerse is where 1st should be is there any way of adjusting it finer?????
any help
