Gear Lever

Hi, whats supposed to stop the mk1 golf GTI gear lever selecting reverse?
Leading on from this has anyone used one of the repair kits from ebay, which would rectify this problem? and also make the lever spring back to the middle position?

Hi Mate,

There is a part of level that should stop it going into reverse, you should only be able to select reverse which pushing down. Sounds like your spring and or bushes are worn so I would get the kits from Crazy Quiff on here. I have done mine and it made it loads better all round.

Its not a hard job but I you may need help lining up the linkage afterwards so that it goes in all gears.
