g/box major leak on my 90 cabby, will a mk2 8v box fit?
driving down some country roads yesterday, sun shining wind in my hair 8)
then all of a sudden noticed a smoking from the frot of the car, started losing drive, i pulled over popped the bonnet and there was oil pissing out of the bottom of the bell housing and the flywheel was soaked.
called the AA to get towed home and the guy reckoned soemthing had worn its way through the casting and caused the major leak, any ideas what it could be guys??
it had done near 140k and had the dreaded 2nd gear crunch, so wasn't in the best of nick, plus it was coping with the 140bhp/149lbs/ft i was gunning through it
so i could get access to a late mk2 8v box, would this fit?
or i've just aquired a 9a for fitmenet at some point, would i be beteter trying to source a 16v box instead??
cheers
Chris

thing is if i'm doing the job i want another box there ready to put on, i don't have anywhere i can leave the car while i suss out whats wrong with it.
recon boxes are 400 quid plus so i think i'll take my chances with a later mk2 box if they're compatible.
like i say i have a 9a engine that will be going in at somepoint, so should be able to fit a 16v box as (i think) i have the 100mm cabby driveshaft flanges anyway.
cheers
