Front Wishbones, Ball Joints and Bearings
Attempted to fit poly bushes to me cabby this week but couldn't split the bottom O/S ball joint (managed to split the boot on it though ). Then had bearing confirmed as on it's way out Anyway, I've decided that as I've already fitted new shocks & springs, an outer CV & discs and pads I might as well rebuild the rest of the front end 8O 8O
So I'm going to replace :
2 x wishbones
2 x front bottom ball joints
2 x wheel bearings
I've priced them up @ GSF and they come to ?82 inc VAT
a) Anyone fitted these from GSF are they ok? (I know most stuff from there is spot on but I like to double check on major suspension bits, better safe than sorry n all that  )
b) Is this the best value?
Enlighten me o knowledgeable ones
PS
I'm also after the rubber thing that holds air filter box to block
(Part No. 431 121 273A).
Could be one for you Rich
Cheers
Chris

wheel bearings are a bitch to change you really need a press to remove them and re-fit i did mine without and it took me the best part of 2-3 hours a side to remove from the hub
As for the ball joint do you have a proper ball joint splitter?

I use a blunt chisel to open the hub which allows the balljoint to drop down. Why do you need to replace the bottom arms? I just drilled out the rivets and fitted new balljoints.
Im the same if i'm having the whole front end apart you might aswell replace everything else while you're there.

In the end a thought replace the lot (It's looking a bit old and MOT due 5/11/07 8O ). So I intend on taking off the drive shaft, hub & wishbone, check everything's ok then rebuild with new bearings, w/bones & ball joints.
ANOTHER QUESTION 8O
When removing drive shafts what should I look for? Do I need to put grease between inner joint & g/box??? If so what sort?? Any other tips??
Also intend on trying to put a replacement back axle on as well. 8O
The joys of owning a Mk1
