front wheel bearing rumbling but no play

ok bit confused on this one, I've got the usual rumble/droning/humming noise front the o/s/f wheel, so wheel bearing we're all thinking yeah? well upon jacking it up to give it a wiggle there is no unusual play.

could the wheel bearing still be on it's way out?

I've had a similar problem and it turned out to be diagonally opposite.

check the condition of your tyres, excessively worn or "blocked" (where the tread pattern is staged and some are raised above others due to low pressures and sometimes manufacturing defects) tyres are often the cause, check tyre pressures also. HTH

Please don't call me fella- its deeply insulting to one whom is no such thing! ;)

On brothers Driver that he had it sounded like bearing was about to collapse. No play but you could tell which it was as it made more noise when weight was on that side on going around bends.

It's a bit of a mission compared to rear bearings but when we did get it out one of rollers had a bit of rust on it. Rest of it looked OK amazing that just a small bit of damage made that much of a racket.

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.
