front struts

hi everyone i want to change the springs on my cabby back to original when i brought the car it had yellow struts and red springs are these struts original or will i haveto get new ones to fit the original springs on ? many thanks  jeff

Have a look at them and see if there are any markings or stickers, off the top of my head yellow could mean they are koni, jamex or spax, they could of course be standard which someone has repainted at some time wouldnt be the first time

If they are lowered shocks then no you wouldnt want to use standard springs with them, you need to find out first what they are ie standard that someone painted yellow or lowering units

aaah thx mate they dont look like they have been painted do any mk1 struts fit or are cabby ones different ?  jeff :dontknow:

What engine is in your cabby? i have a pair of new boge front inserts you could fit to your front strut housings if your interested, they where who vw used so just as good as genuine (not that you can get genuine anymore), nothing wrong with finding a good used set of springs but dont waste your time with used shocks its not worth it

ita a 1990 1.8 gti mate
