Fitted new clutch in rivage still not right help!

Just got a K reg Rivage fitted a new clutch still seems to be on full adjustment and crunches a bit in second is there another adjustment on the gearbox that i don't know about? The arm seems sloppy on the gearbox and not returning fully any help or advice on this or anything else to do with Rivage would be great Cheers

crunches a bit in second

Common with a worn gearbox , but may last for years  , change gearbox oil and add gearbox friction reducer . Not a clutch issue . Adjust the cable as per manual .

could be a colapsed thrust bearing in the back of the gearbox,or the thrust bearing actuator arm has cracked and slipped round the shaft in the back of the box also, easy fix if it is that, have you checked to see if the cable has started to pull through the bulkhead?

If it crunches only into one gear (not the others) then its not the clutch, its the gearbox. Some people have had success by changing the tranny fluid or using Slick 50, but basically its a common failure and the cure is another ?50 gearbox.

its not pulled through the bulk head but i will check if the arm has slipped, is it on the spline where the arm conects to the box is that what you mean, it may have slipped then but dont think anythings collapsed because it seems to run alright with no grinding but the gearbox may be worn perhapse need a new one thanks for help i'll look at again tomorrow.

the spline that slips is in the back of the box, inside the green cap on the end,its the lever that pushes the thrust bearing that breaks and slips, ive changed loads, leaves no adjustment on the cable when they slip

Checked the finger arm and everything's ok, If I'd have read everything on broken vw I could have saved myself alot of work. So now going for clutch cable, gear selector bush kit, and new gearbox oil. It's only a slight crunch into second now and again, but after this stage I think it's got to be the gearbox! Thanks again for all help, I'll keep updating.
