Driveshaft Q

Hi guys,

Im doing the old mk2 16v into my mk1 conversion, but just need a couple of things answering please.

Tried a few searches but I cant seem to find the bit I'm looking for.
Does anyone know if the mk2 golf 1.8 16v KR  passenger side driveshaft (short one) is the same legnth as a mk1 shaft? Ive been told its a straight swap as long as I grind the outer lip off so it fits into the mk1 hub?

Ive got a drivers side scirocco shaft that im going to change the inner cv with the original mk2 100mm cv. I'll probably have to grind the outer lip off. Hopefully that should solve that side, right?

Cheers for any help

edit-

Anyone know if I get some 1982 mk1 cabriolet shafts, can I just swap the inner cv's over with the mk2 100mm ones? Will that fit?

Alright mate, havin the same prob myself(fitting a mk2 gti mv engineered race engine) into my mk1,as far as I know mk1 cabby driveshafts fit sraight on as long as the inners are 100mm,I was wanting to ask if anyone knew if rocco driveshafts would fit as they seem to be the same spec, hope this helps & if anyone can help me let me know.

Cheers

Rocco shafts will work.  If you do a search I posted a whole load of pictures on doing this swap and how you either have to grind off the outer edge of just move the outer CV off the old shaft and on to the  new.  I'll have a search if i get time.
