Drive shaft removal

Hi Guys

Think I have successfully managed a slight 'School Boy error'….

I tore my car down and shipped shell off to get prepped ('79 Series 1 Gti), unfortunately when I dropped the wishbones, suspension, drive shafts etc, I didn't undo the main driveshaft nut holding all the front disc assembly together…

Having seen guys using 3ft plus breaker bars to undo while assembly still fitted to the car, simple question, am I going to be able to undo while not having the weight of the car to keep assembly static……

If so, has anyone else made the same mistake but successfully managed it?

Cheers in advance

Try putting two wheel bolts back in next to each other then place a large pry bar or simliar threw the bolts  so you can stop the hub from turning, think you will need a mate to help you with this , then try and turn the nut with a good size bar. I now this is not the ideal way to do it but you mite be lucky .

Impact wrench will do you a world of favours. If you don't have access to one, a loval garage should do it for next to nothing. i had same with a g60 hub, even on the cr it was a bitch to undo, impact wrench it took 2 mins while compressor was fired up lol. Luckily my dad has all this at his work.
