I think you'll always get some movement downwards when people get in the car. If it was so stiff as not to move when people get in you'd have no give on the roadand therfore no ride quality.
What size wheels/tyres are you running?
If rubbing may be a problem (presume on the rear) then you may need to have some work done to the return lips and wheel arch extensions
To get the ride height as you want it then coil overs will be the best route. my advice is ask about and see what setup others are running.
I have hot tuning coils on my cabrio currently with G60 steels and have no rubbing at all. However once the zenders are on Clearence maybe an issue.
Past golfs have been lowered with the following:
MK3 GTI - supersport coilies 17" wheels. Low but harsh ride
MK3 VR6 - Weitech coilies 17" wheels. low but ride ok
Mk4 TDI - Spax coilies 18" wheels. Low, great ride and handling
Hope this helps
Projekt Frustration :
White 1991 Clipper. Lowered over polished zender rims, Single 40 dellorto on lynx manifold, kent cam, full stainless 'zorst / manifold, powerflex bushed and braced. Not the fastest car, but sounds super nice!
Still going after 12 years… never said it was a quick fix! Time is not my friend.

i got 15inch ronal alloys, similar to the bbs split rims. The car they came off had coilover but there was sign of rubbing against the tryes so i want to avoid the same problem, yet have the car sitting nicely above the tyres whether ppl get in or not. I used to have a mk3 vr6 which wouldnt go down no matter what but cant remember if it had springs or a coilover set.
i do have wide tyres so let me check them and see what size they are
cheers
