cv joint ? any advice please ?

as usual my unlucky streak is still going strong. on return from dubfreeze my gti gained a rumble sound. i stopped to inspect and found that the passenger side drive shaft seems to have a lot of play in it at the engine side.. is this the cv joint at fault ? if so any tips on how to fix it . i have read haynes manual but just wanted any tips really. also while doing this job are there any other jobs that would be worth doing at the same time cheers .

are your balljoints riveted onto the wishbones? if so, they'll be original

I've just replaced the balljoints, track rod ends, wishbones + mounts and it feels like a new car!

cost me ?85 for everything from GSF

but then it was stuidly hard work getting the balljoint to huib bolt/pinion out (hour and a half each side!!!)

yep! thought it would all be nice and easy.. torque settings for everything is nice and low! but those bolts just rust on solid! :banghead:

well worth it in the end though and makes the car feel so much firmer 8)
