Depends what is "special" for you, in the way of tools (special = tools you don't have!    )

Gearbox needs to come out, you'll need M10(?) Torx for the inner CV joint bolts.
You'll also need some means of supporting the engine when the gearbox is out.
Also, you'll need a clutch-centring tool.

Other stuff is standard sockets, spanners and screwdrivers…

The inner CV bolts are "Star" rather than Torx, at least that's what Halfords call them. The Star has more splines than the Torx IIRC. Make sure you clear any crud from the bolt head and use a rubber mallet to hammer the socket home. They like to round off on you. Your starter motor may use the same Star pattern but larger socket depending on the year. This bolt will need to come out to release the starter from the front engine bracket.

Correct - One has 6 points (CV joint), and the other has 12 (eg Head bolt in engine) - Can't recall which is which right now, though…

Its the CV and starter that have 12. And also the bolt for the hubcap on Mk2 Silverstones!

we call em 'starbits' round our way but then again i eat pie sandwiches. andump its no easy job mate, you can guarantee it wont go to plan (bolt stuck/threads/sheers).  easier if you can get access to workshop or ramps mate as you need to get front end of car up in air.  get yourself a haynes manual and a new clutch kit and take it from there mate. its do-able at home though and easier more times you do it, give us a shout when you got all the stuff together mate.
p.s they are selling 80mm long t45/m10 bits on the bay at present for a tenner which will make your life a lot easier and useful in the future
good luck mate,
paul
