You can adjust the cable, in fact given the simplicity of this (its a 5 minute job, 17mm spanner), definitely worth doing it first!

Clutch slipping after 1k...diesel clutch any better?

I changed my clutch 1k ago, also put in a higher ratio box. The car now sits at 3500RPM at 100mph! I don't know whether this is killing the clutch or it's oil contamination but i'm gonna have to change it again :banghead: I put new seals in the gearbox, is there any other place oil could be getting in from to contaminate the clutch? I have a slight leak (maybe oil sump…bu it's very little and only leaves a drop when stood). Also will a diesel clutch fit a gti and will it be better suited to the higher ratio gearbox?

I've tried adjusting the cable but don't seem to be getting anywhere.

It could be the crank seal. Since you've adjusted the clutch to no avail, all you can do now is to remove the gearbox and have a look.

Thats amazing are you sure you have a problem ? A standard 8V Gti does 3500 at 70 .

I love the new gearing….I want to keep it! Is the crank seal a big job -can it be done with engine in?

Thanks
