Clutch Pedal sticking/stopping

Morning….
Got a call from the missus on her way to work. The clutch pedal is sticking/stopping upon reset after changing gear causing the engine to over rev.
(Mk1 89 (F) Cab 1.8gti 8v) I replaced the clutch about 2-3yrs ago when i had the box re-built so hoping it's not the clutch plate sticking.
Any ideas? Do you think i should check out the pedal assembly make sure all is well?
Any ideas would be gratefull for when i give it the once over tonight.
