Clutch issues

Hi, I have a '92 1.3 mk 1 with a 4 speed gearbox and my clutch cable snapped because it was grating on a sharp metal edge. I fixed the problem and replaced the cable and it operates the clutch arm just fine but it wont disengage the clutch and there's almost no weight on the pedal. I would appreciate any ideas as to what the problem might be and how to fix it.

There should be a spring on the arm on the gearbox that the clutch cable connects to is it still on ?

Have you adjusted the cable correctly ?

May be the thrust bearing isn't working properly ?
