Clutch/flywheel types

Did any of the golfs mk1-mk2 (bigblock) not have the backwards type clutch set-up - ie the flywheel actually bolts to the engine. Im sure atleast on of mine has, maybe diesel ones?

im in search of this kind of setup but atmost 200mm to fit in a gear box

any help is muchly appreciated.
