changing clutch

hi,

im just wondering if someone could let me know how to remove the flywheel from mk1 golf gti.  ive got the engine and gearbox out and seperated them, but the flywheel is held on with star shaped bolts and i wondered if you know what they are called?

Are they not just T bolts? Like T40 T45 T50 etc? i could be wrong, but if they are you can get the sockets at halfords.

12 point splines, use a 9mm double hex socket to remove them.

As mrpurple said just make sure you get the socket onto the bolt properly, knock it on with a soft faced copper hammer till stops. This should stop you rounding the little blighters off.

ah many thanks.  my 9mm socket isnt double hex which is why it wont fit… ill see if i can dig out an old one somewhere…

Some sockets are, some are not...... yours are the latter

9mm ring spanner works, though obv cant put one on the end of your torque wrench when you come to do em back up :lol:
