Car not moving!

hi, my mates golf clipper wont drive. he said it started clicking on the left hand side and yesterday something went and it wont drive. i towed it home for him and had a quick look pulled back the rubber boot on the driveshaft and ball bearings fell out and the metal that holds them in is bust. not great with mechanics, whats gone drive shaft or wheel bearings??? :dontknow:

Sounds like the CV joint has failed. About ?30 from GSF or thereabouts. The tow probably destroyed it (so it fell apart when the boot was taken back) but it would have been dead already, given that the friend couldn't put power to the road through it.

You don't mention inner or outer, but if its an inner you'll need M8 12 spline tool to undo the bolts and a pair of circlip pliers; if its the outer, I think you'll need a 27mm deep socket to remove the hub (don't quote me on size, might be 30mm, can't remember).
