CAN A MK2 REAR AXLE BE FITTED TO A MK1????

Hi
Happy new year to you all.

I am thinking of carrying out a resto to my Campain and wanting to try and modernise the car a little without loosing the look of the thing.

My question is can a mk2 axle be fitted to a mk1 and want would happen to the wheel centre's in relation to the arch or the suspension angle once the axle is fitted.???

Does anyone know the overhaul width of the two axles???

Thanks
Andrew

No, the axle mounting points are sufficiently different.

Hi

if im honest i just like to replace new or newer for old.  As its winter time i always get board and like to live in the garage lol.  Though i havent had the car long im itching to pull it apart and start putting different things on it etc etc.

Thanks for the info though everyone.  Think the forum is great.

Cheers
