bulkhead clutch plate
The clutch pulled through the bulkhead taking half of the metal with it, i managed to butcher a plastering tool to get me home but only just!
Can you buy clutch plates? or would it be best to make one? will it need to be welded in?

GSF do a stick on plate for around ?10 I believe.. not sure on how big it is though
not much to stop you making you own one up really, as long as it's strong enough to take the pressure

No worries, do you know how old the clutch cable is? might be worth replacing that at the same time as old cables can make the clutch feel harder

how old erm………nearly 2 weeks!!
I knew when i changed it that it might cause me problems as the metal felt a little weak around the hole, but plugged it in anyway and it felt fine..
had to happen at a t-juntion though of all places! 5:30pm rush hour traffic!

A couple of years ago our clutch started dragging, I tightend the adjuster, it was ok for a week, tightend some more, ok for a few days, tightend some more ok for a day. Tightend some more tested the clutch and FLOPP!!
I fashioned a small repair plate and welded it in place. The clutch was still very heavy which I assumed was the reason for the failure.
about four weeks later on teh way out for a pub meal i depressed the clutch and SCHREAACHHSHSHSHHAHS.. Drive was minimal and noise was maximal. Fortunatly we coasted into the pub car park. Called the AA, Had a few pints, nice meal then got transported home.
Garage fitted a new clutch and it was as light as a feather!!
Anyway.
I would weld in a pathc as a stick on one may not last long and may promote rust in the pannel behind. Only problem is you ahve to be well prepared and quite brave as welding takes place very near the fule system and internal furnishings.
