Broken spring

Was changing my front top mounts and inserts etc (on both sides), when taking off drivers side the spring had snapped.  Do i now need to replace the springs on both sides or just the the one that has snapped.

I appreciate that when doing suspension you do them in pairs but rather not spend the extra on a new spring for the other side if not required.

Advice from the more experienced would be much appreciated.
