brakes not too good

I know there not brill on the mk1, but if you start the car with foot on brake pedal is it suppose to fall slightly. As it doesnt do this.

Will a fluid change be in order or is it the servo.

I had brake problems with mine typical mk1 trait. Couldnt understand why the pedel would drop slowly whilst my foot was on it for a period of time.

Thinking it was the master cylinder it was`nt. It was a vacum leak from the intake manifold to the cylinder. The one way valve was faulty.

But a hard-ish pedel is about right for a Mk1, but i would deff upgrade the discs to crossed groved and drilled and a decent set of pads. Bleeding them make no end of difference too.
