Brake Pad Retaining Pins

Where can I get new brake pad retaining pins for the Teves style brakes system? Tried ECP (will try GSF) and VAG (who say they are deleted) but no joy. Would have thought there would be a brake fitting kit available  :dontknow:

I had a similar problem when I broke the carrier retaining spring - nobody carries parts for the Teves caliper. Ended up buying 2 sets of refurbed calipers of ebay as spares. As there is not much demand for them, you can get them quite cheaply. Pretty sure the Mk2 Polo uses the same caliper, so you could try a scrappy.

Edit: VW part number is 861615261 (same for Polo and Golf). You may want to ask for it by part number to double check availability.

I know this sounds daft but have you tried Halfords ?

Other than that, Teves calipers methinks were used on my "Rabbits" in the good olde US of A…thus

(send the bloke a message to see what he's got)

He may have them but of course there'd be a bit of a wait (usually about 6-7 days on airmail. Some of the other US suppliers may also supply to England..dubboy has provided the part no.

Failing that you could always get your mate to turn up some spiffy stainless steel ones on his lathe if you have something (an original pin ?) to copy off.

Thanks for the help guys. I've got wise to the old ask for it by part number routine. Amazing how VW dealers seem to be able find previoulsy unavailable items when given the part number  . No joy with the pins though.

Have managed to track down what is supposed to be the correct kit from Halfrauds of all places. Kit is made by Ferodo and is ?3.99, should be in the next day or so.

Scratch that, Halfrauds lived up to their reputation for uselessness. Turned out they had got me a rear fitting kit, they could get a front one but at ?12 8O . Had a brainwave and did what I should have done the first place - go to the local parts factor. They got me the correct Ferodo kit for ?5.50 - kit number is Ferodo FBA430 for reference.

Hmmmmph!!!!

I am having exactly the same problem at the moment - trying to get a brake pad fitting kit for my '78 1.5 GLS.  Today I have been to collect the  FBA430 kit from my motorfactor, having placed a special order after reading this post.  Imagine my frustration when I am presented with FBA530 by the youth behind the counter.  Grrrrr. :banghead:

I have waited over a week for the wrong kit!  I started changing pads and discs at the beginning of October.  This is really galling!

Does anybody know of a good factor who can supply Ferodo bits?!?!
