Brake line replacement
Despite casting admiring looks over my 1985 GTI cabrio the MOT man failed it for corroded brake pipes. Fair does I guess - they do look furrier than a…very furry thing.
I've seen that a few other people have changed their own (flexi) brakelines. How difficult was it? I haven't been quoted for the job yet, and I'm waiting to see whether it's cheaper to get it done by the garage that did the MoT, in time to avoid the re-test fee.
However - if it's a bit of kerfuffle I'd be happy to pay a bit more than the parts/re-test cost alone.
Is it essential to drop the rear axle to access the rear lines?

there easy enough to replace dont need to drop the back axle off completly just drop the suspension and that should make it easier.
go for braided hoses though and rule out the need of changin em again

cheers for the advice.
Braided hoses it is.
I don't anticipate the car outlasting the new exhaust, wheel bearings, and suspension strut already fitted. So I'm expecting this to be a once only job
