Brake compensator valve

As some of you may or may not know I'm building my mk1 golf completly from scratch.

So…. Do I need a compensator valve for the rear brakes? I'm running MK3 Drums and a Corrado set up at the front. MK2 GTi servo with a passat 4 branch cylinder

I was hoping to get rid of it to be honest and if I need to use some in line bias adjusters.

Also do I need the regulators in the pipework near the master cylinder?
Cheers

Well if you aren't going to be changing the weight of the rear end then you won't need a compensator, this means no rear passengers or bags of sand and cement in the boot! :-) the compensator is basically there to limit how much braking pressure is exerted on the back end when unladen so its up to you, if you set it up for 2 rear passengers then when there is just you driving the rear wheels will most certainly lock under heavy braking ( bit ropey in the wet)
If you fit a full inline bias valve and actually do adjust it then you will be fine though as at least you can compensate for the difference between front and rear braking to what it would have been as standard. what regulators by the master cylinder? have you got pics?

later cabby & rocco have inline reducers that will do the trick :)

on my cabby i made a bracket which allowed me to bolt on a MK2 Golf pressure regulator

So use the inline reducers instead of the compensator valve? I'm confused now?!?!

yes you can use the later cab/rocco inline restrictors instead of a bias valve.

This is why the later cab/rocco have the restrictors and no bias valve. Even the sciroco 16v with rear discs has restrictors and not a valve ;)

Though the 16v ones are a different part number to the rear drum restrictors.

the restrictors are in the engine bay, just below the mc :)

ha ha this is gettin confusing. So, rubjonny, what your saying is from the MC (rear brakes this is) All I do is come out of the MC into a T piece then on the two lines running to the rear brake I just add the inline reducers and thats it? No need for a compensator valve at the rear of the car? Just straight to the flexi joint and then on form there to the drums?

Cheers and very sorry for sounding thick
